Street Poem- English Bay

English Bay

I was sitting on a bench at English Bay today and as I sat I couldn’t help but hear parts of sentences from different conversations. After listening for a while I thought wouldn’t it be fun to write some of them down and put them together and see what it sounds like. So here it is.

-This is the perfect day for it
-ravioli with pesto sauce
-that’s the reason for tips
-that was a tenured job?
-Hell is real
-We know that but do you like the company though?
-There is so much more diversity there now.
-We didn’t know what was happening
-So I could just say “that’s a major thing to say”
-what’s the big deal
-yes, yes, oh that’s good

Of course I put the sentences in my own order, the only one I couldn't find a place for was:
-yes in the garden

Vancouver BC Canada is a Beautiful City

Every time I visit Vancouver BC I marvel at how beautiful and livable it is. There are so many parks and places to walk and ride bikes.

Vancouver BC at Sunset

One of my favorite things the people here do on sunny nights — even cold sunny nights — is they go to the beaches that surround their city and watch the sunset. Here are some pictures from this visit.

Mangosteen

Mangosteen

So I decided to paint this Mangosteen before I ate it. Here are the incremental steps I took to paint it.

Mangosteen

It tastes like a mix between a grape and tangerine, and sort of looks like one too.

Usual Fruit at Granville Market

Usual Fruit at Granville Market

At Granville Island they have a very large food market with all kinds of unusual foods. So I decided I would try a few different fruits which I had never tasted (and some of which I had never seen). They were expensive since they all came from different parts of Asia.

Here is what I learned. I should let you know I am not a foodie and do not have a great pallet so you may like things I didn't. I say try them and be adventurous!

 Goldenberries

First I tried Goldenberries the women told me they were sweet and sour. She was right, and not in a good way. I tried several different ones to make sure I just didn’t get a bad one. My final decision: I won’t be eating them again.

Rambutans
Then I tried Rambutans they were very good, they had a sweet white flesh a bit like a really big grape. My final decision: I will eat them again.

Passion Fruit

Next I tried Passion Fruit. Honestly, who could pass them up with that name? There were two kinds so I picked the sweetest kind. It was sweet but it tasted a bit to strange for my liking I would try to describe it to you but, honestly, I can’t I don’t have a taste I can compare it to, which may be a reason for you to try it. My final decision: confused.

Dragon Fruit

The Dragon Fruit was next another great name. This fruit is beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. But as far as taste goes, plain weird. It tastes like moss smells. My final decision: I don't like eating moss.
Dragon Fruit

Muscat grapes are great and so sweet, the sweetest grapes I have ever tasted. Expensive though so it’s up to you if you think it’s worth it. I will look for a sale and eat them again. My final decision: when I win the lottery I will eat them again.

Muscat grapes you can see them in the bowl at the top of the blog.

Overall, I’m glad I tried these different fruits I found a couple new ones I like and now when I’m walking around a market and see these usual fruits I will enjoy knowing how they taste. Except the goldenberries.

Contemplation

I am in Vancouver BC Canada this week.

This is where I was lucky enough to sit today just thinking about life. It's a wonderful place to simply sit and watch the boats go by. If you'd also like to sit here by the harbor, and are in the lovely Vancouver, you can go where I was at Granville Market, right outside and to the left of the food market. I would highly recommend it.

Then I moved to a different restaurant and thought about life here for a while. What a hard day. :)

Love and Thankfulness

Gerber Daises

The strangest thing I've found in my life is when you’re at the lowest point’s life appears the most beautiful. It’s at these points, so deep in life, that you cut out all that is shallow. You feel love and thankfulness with a new intensely. I’m always thankful I have been given so much in my life. But you truly realize that love is really what it’s all about.

Staging My House

I love my house so much. We have lived here for 19 years. The walls were covered in paintings. We had sculptures and trinkets everywhere. Lots of color and whimsy.

Now I've had to stage it for selling. I can only hang some painting of landscapes or flowers. We repainted the walls to hide objectionable colors.

I have stripped away any of our personalities so the house will look as if anyone could live in it.

It no longer feels like my home which should help make it easier for me to leave. I did leave my garden in tact so it is still full of whimsy and fun.

One more step towards my new life. So many unknown questions lay ahead. But as everyone says one step in front of the other.

Here's the finished project.
