Craft: This Little Piggy Built a Paper House

When I was in Cambridge, England I saw this wonderful paper house in a window of an art gallery. I thought what a fun present for a book lover or a great center piece for a book club get together or maybe a display in a library window.

The original is pretty elaborate and would take a lot of time. But I made a simpler one. If you want to take the time to do a more elaborate one. Just use my example and expand on it.

Paper House in Art Gallery Window

These are the supplies I started with:
A small box
Card Stock (one piece)
Two old books one yellower than the other.
White glue
Hot glue gun
Scissors

1) First I covered the box in the yellower book pages.

2) Then I took the white book pages and cut them into small bricks and glued them on.
3) After that I glued the black door and the small windows in place.

4) Now for the tidiest part. I used the yellow book page to cut a small door
and then I used the book page edges and cut the tiny door and window frames.

5) For the thatched roof I cut strips of the yellow pages and then fringed the edges by making lots of tiny snips. I glued them in an overlapping fashion. Then using the hot glue gun I glued the roof into
place on top of my house.

6) Add your chimney by gluing a yellow piece of your book page around some card stock. And then hot gluing it to the top of your house.
 7) Lay your tiny little house on the center of one of the books and you have a wonderful center piece.

Beautiful Windows in Cambridge England and a Couple of Doors

While strolling around Cambridge I noticed how beautiful the windows are. Besides being unique in their structure and shape it seems as though the gardeners have chosen to grow beautiful plants around them  making them each a unique piece of art. Here are a few examples.

Funny Wildlife Photos

I have seen so many beautiful wildlife photos and wondered how people get those shots. I think wildlife photos take way more patience then I have. I thought you'd find the humor in some of my nature shots.
A Duck

This was a mother duck with her babies and
I couldn't manage to photograph one of them. LOL

Floating Bouquet

When I was in Cambodia I saw this beautiful bouquet and I thought it would be fun to make one using  flowers from here. Here's how it turned out and it was very easy.

Gardens of Cambridge England

 Cambridge, England

The Cambridge University botanical gardens are very pretty. The gardens opened in 1846 through the vision and drive of Professor John Henslow mentor to Charles Darwin. Is that cool or what? The history of Cambridge is amazing.   So many famous people have done so many famous things here. There are plackets everywhere saying in this building this was developed and in this building this was discovered.   It's pretty exciting.

The garden today is a showcase for over 8000 plants from around the world. It had several large greenhouses growing everything from unusual tropical plants, orchids to succulents. In one of the greenhouses there was a rare and beautiful Jade Vine.  We were lucky to see it in bloom. The garden also has meadows, ponds and one of the biggest selection of trees in the region I would definitely recommend going to see it if you are in Cambridge.

There are many gardens all over Cambridge in the different college courtyards and peoples' yards. Gardens are absolutely bursting out of the walls, over the walls and around the walls. I’m including pictures from all of those because in truth Cambridge is one large garden.  You just have to look behind the walls.
