The Cambridge University botanical gardens are very
pretty. The gardens opened in 1846 through the vision and drive of
Professor John Henslow mentor to Charles Darwin. Is that cool or what? The
history of Cambridge is amazing. So many famous people have
done so many famous things here. There are plackets everywhere saying in this
building this was developed and in this building this was discovered. It's
pretty exciting.

The garden today is a showcase for over 8000 plants from
around the world. It had several large greenhouses growing everything from
unusual tropical plants, orchids to succulents. In one of the greenhouses there
was a rare and beautiful Jade Vine. We were lucky to see it in bloom. The garden
also has meadows, ponds and one of the
biggest selection of trees in the region I would definitely recommend going to
see it if you are in Cambridge.

There are many gardens all over Cambridge in the different college
courtyards and peoples' yards. Gardens are absolutely bursting out of the walls, over the walls and around the walls. I’m including pictures from all of those because in
truth Cambridge is one large garden. You just have to look behind the walls.
